Settrax Upstream Scheduling with an EMR

With the Settrax EMR integration feature update, we can connect to your hospital's OR schedule and automate hospital to vendor communication!

There are two ways to schedule with this new feature release:

  1. Upstream scheduling - Upstream scheduling is centered around your EMR surgery schedulers using your EMR scheduling application to communicate with your device vendors
  2. Downstream scheduling - Downstream scheduling is centered around your clinical coordinators using the Settrax application to communicate with your device vendors using your EMR data stream.

This tutorial will go over upstream scheduling

“Upstream scheduling” is using your EMR interface itself to create the case in Settrax and notify the assigned vendor. As mentioned in the introduction, this will be done primarily by OR surgery schedulers who utilize your facility’s EMR.

  1. log into your Settrax account.
  2. Select EMR Scheduling and then select Vendor Codes.
  3. You will see a list of your device vendors and the option to “Copy Code” next to their names.
  4. Click Copy Code. This will copy a unique Settrax ID for the vendor into your computer clipboard.
  5. Navigate to the Surgery Notes section of your EMR interface and paste the code.
  6. Settrax will then use that pasted vendor code to create the case in Settrax automatically and notify the device vendor. As long as the vendor code stays in the comments section, anytime you update or cancel a case in your EMR, Settrax will automatically update the case and notify the vendor.
